Anthony Mason
Biography

Anthony began professionally in the Theatre with a touring production of Alice in Wonderland. From here he went on to pantomime (oh yes he did!).

His first panto performance was Pendle Production's Jack and the Beanstalk, where he played the giant's henchman, Flesh Creep! This part involved him doubling as the giant, which required stilt walking and a quickly acquired head for heights! Other pantos include Simon Gross's Jack and the Beanstalk, where Anthony was cast as Dame, Mother Goose directed by Sue Bailey, where Anthony played the love interest!!! He was also musical director for Babes in the Wood, directed by Brindley Mottram.

Barry Stacey’s Wizard of Oz saw Anthony as the Tin Man, at the Harlequin Theatre, Red Hill, in Surrey.

Anthony debuted as director with Arnold Ridley's The Ghost Train, in which he also played Teddy Dakin.

As well as acting, Anthony has been a keen musician since childhood. His first instrument, the ukulele, reflects his admiration for the music of George Formby. He has appeared on numerous occasions as George Formby on TV and in theatres. He also plays acoustic guitar, piano and banjo.

The 1920’s is a particular passion of Anthony’s, and his great ambition to be a Noël Coward-style crooner was realised when the hot Jazz dance band Café Society invited him to join. They continue to enjoy regular work all over the country, delighting audiences with tongue-in-cheek humour and double-entendres.

TV and film appearances include: Coasting starring Peter Hewitt, The Bill, Casualty and numerous advertisements on TV and radio. He starred as Jonathan Hesketh-Bell in Tim Wyatt’s feature film Dead Money. He is also cast to play Noël Coward in Tim’s next film Once you’re dead you’re made for life! Details of both these films can be found on the Iron Pictures website. There you will find a trailer for the film, which you can view at your leisure.

2005 saw Anthony touring with Johnny Barr's Flanagan and Allen story, where Anthony played Charlie Norton. In 2006, he is rejoining the company, taking on the role of Jimmy Nervo, and cameoing as George Formby.
